Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi K60 Ultra in China with the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ SoC. Now, Xiaomi has made a promise of four generations of Android updates and five years of security updates for its latest flagship handset. The first batch of handsets to receive the Android update and security pledge includes the Redmi K60 Ultra, which has also been added to the lineup receiving the MIUI 15 Android skin.

Samsung, one of Xiaomi’s primary competitors in the market, is currently offering four Android generations of upgrades and five years of security updates for most of its Galaxy smartphones. Samsung is also offering a similar promise to its Galaxy S21 FE.

Redmi K60 Ultra Review

The Redmi K60 Ultra features a triple rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel sensor. It is equipped with a 120W fast charging support and a 5,000mAh battery.

Xiaomi, through its official Weibo handle, announced a new Android update policy for the Redmi K60 Ultra, also known as the Redmi K60 Extreme Edition, on Wednesday (August 23). The latest flagship handset is confirmed to receive four major Android version upgrades and five years of over-the-air (OTA) security updates. It will be the first phone to get the Android 14-based MIUI 15 skin.

Redmi K60 Ultra OTA Updates

This promise of updates is currently applicable to the Redmi K60 Ultra model in China, making it the first phone from the brand to get an assurance of software updates for an extended period. The handset is expected to launch in international markets outside China as the Xiaomi 13T Pro, though the company has not confirmed this development.

Samsung is also offering four Android generations of upgrades and five years of security updates for its Galaxy smartphones. OnePlus also has a well-known update policy for its flagship devices. Google’s Pixel smartphones come with a guarantee of three Android version upgrades and five years of security updates.
