WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new interface for its Android app. According to a report, the instant messaging app is introducing design changes to the top app bar and UI elements. In the new design, the top bar appears in white color, while other UI elements are displayed in green. The new design has been spotted in WhatsApp version 2.23.18.18 beta for Android, which is available through the Google Play beta program. However, it’s not visible to all beta testers yet.

WhatsApp’s redesign could be a step towards aligning itself with Google’s latest Material Design 3 guidelines. An improved user interface for Android is likely to be available in future updates, possibly before the final release. WhatsApp is also said to be working on design improvements for its iOS app. According to WABetaInfo, changes were seen in the TestFlight app for iOS in WhatsApp’s beta version 23.17.1.77.
In the meantime, WhatsApp introduced the ability to send HD photos and videos through the app earlier this month. It also added support for sending high-resolution images. With the WhatsApp update for Android version 2.23.17.74, users can now share videos in 720p resolution, up from the standard 480p resolution.
